Cosmetics is a field that has set itself apart from medicine in the past treatment and more recently from wellness. Nevertheless, the boundaries between the disciplines are fluid. Especially with the wellness treatments, there are some overlaps. Which applications still belong to the cosmetic treatments and which already belong to the medical therapies is also not easy to determine and depends primarily on the definition of cosmetics. Undeniably, however, body care, the preservation of a youthful skin condition and beauty care belong to the very own fields of cosmetics. What types of cosmetic treatments there are, read here. Cosmetic treatments and medical therapies: what’s the difference?
The distinction between cosmetic and medical forms of treatment is not easy. In practice, some methods are reserved for the dermatologist. Dermabrasion is an invasive procedure for combating scars, in which the skin is abraded down to its deeper layers. The treatment is carried out under anesthesia and may only be carried out by professionally qualified doctors. In microdermabrasion, on the other hand, only the top layer of skin is affected. She is also allowed to grind off the beautician. In accordance with microdermabrasion, the Dermaroller may also be used by cosmetologists up to a certain penetration depth of the needles. All variants of the procedure that affect deeper tissue layers are again reserved for the physician. Thus, an important criterion for a cosmetic treatment is that it uses non-invasive methods that only affect the skin surface. In addition, the use of medical devices is taboo for cosmetologists. For example, some may only be used by doctors. In addition, methods such as feel-good massage must be distinguished from medical massages. What cosmetic treatments do
Cosmetic treatments have a positive effect on body and mind, they improve skin conditions, delay the aging process of the skin and emphasize the shape of the face and the natural skin color of the user in decorative cosmetics.
Cosmetic treatments are not limited to the face, neck or décolleté, but involve the whole body. These include body wraps and massages. Modern cosmetics today use different massage methods from all over the world.Massages for well-being
In contrast to medical massage, the classic massage for relaxation is considered a purely cosmetic treatment. This means that it must not have any physiotherapeutic effect.
