Spectacle & contact lens wearer since the age of 7. 120% visual performance after Femto-LASIK
“I actually have to admit that I was quite excited and nervous in advance of the operation. What really helped me was that the eye clinic team was very helpful and nice and I didn’t have to wait long. The operation itself went by incredibly quickly.”
“The next day I opened my eyes and suddenly I could see. It was an indescribable feeling.”
“I’m overjoyed that I did the surgery and would do it again anytime.”
My refractive lens exchange (RLA with IOL)
Patient opinion 8 years after lens replacement
“After about 3-4 weeks, the vision with both eyes was excellent – the treatment correction was excellent – and it still is today”
“Distance vision and sports are now much more pleasant than with glasses. Driving – especially night vision – is also much better.”
120% prescription after Femto-LASIK
“These glasses just always bothered me. Always put on my glasses, drive a car, watch TV, lie on the couch and then at some point I came to the decision to have my eyes lasered.”
“I had no reason to be excited or afraid. I really thought I was in pain. When you have surgery on your eye, you imagine the worst things beforehand. But it was really nothing.”
“I really have to say again, this is the best thing I could have done. I’m so pleased.”

Depending on which refractive error you are affected by, there are different limits for the diopter values within which optimal eye correction can be achieved by lasers. In many cases, the eye laser can achieve a better result with fewer diopters. A good age for laser eye surgery is between the ages of 25 and 45. The refractive error should not have changed significantly 12 to 24 months before the laser treatment.
In laser procedures, the operation of both eyes directly after each other is standard nowadays. Of course, we use two completely new and sterile instrument sets. If an operation is better done on two consecutive days, we will clarify this individually with you during our detailed consultation. In lens treatments, on the other hand, the eyes are treated two to seven days apart.
The causal elimination of presbyopia is not possible with laser eye treatment. Depending on tolerability, however, some myopia can be deliberately left in one eye. Thanks to this monovision, this eye can continue to read nearby, while the partner’s eye is set to the distance. Individual suitability must be discussed in an individual interview after consideration of all examination results.
For the period of 10 to 14 days, we recommend avoiding heavy physical exertion, sports, solarium, sauna and swimming pool, as well as vigorous rubbing or pressing on the eye. Extreme sports must be discussed on a case-by-case basis. You should not drive again until your ophthalmologist or ARTEMIS has determined sufficient vision during the follow-up examinations.
Reimbursement of costs by statutory health insurance funds is excluded in principle. Private health insurance companies, on the other hand, more often cover the costs of treatment – although here too an intensive examination of the insurance before the procedure is increasingly carried out.
Complications of refractive surgery are very low – the complication rate is less than 0.5 percent. Basically, the operation on the eye can cause the following complaints (which subside in the course of the healing process and disappear completely): sensitivity to light / glare, dry / watery eyes after surgery, eye pain.
The aim of the operation is to be independent of glasses or contact lenses in daily life. Vision that largely meets the demands of daily life is achieved in almost all patients. In some patients, a slight residual refractive error remains. The target range of +/- 0.5 diopters corresponds to the range of normal vision and does not represent any impairment in daily life. In some cases, under special conditions, such as driving at night, it may be advisable to wear weak additional glasses/contact lens correction.
As a precautionary measure, we would not advise any patient to undergo such treatment during pregnancy, as every operation also represents a psychological burden. In addition, the hormone change in the body can have an impact on the refractive values (diopters). As a rule, you should wait with the operation until after weaning.
In any case, you should be driven and accompanied to the operation. We do not recommend using a car after the procedure. It may also be useful to be driven to the preliminary examination, as the pupil may be dilated. Please ask for this when making an appointment.
We advise against laser eye treatment, for example in case of too thin cornea, cataracts or glaucoma as well as active rheumatic and severe dermatological diseases. Since vision changes in the course of life and especially in children and adolescents, laser surgery can be performed from a minimum age of 18 years.
Only in rare cases can renewed eye growth in young patients cause mild myopia again, a follow-up correction would then still be possible even after years. Presbyopia, on the other hand, is a natural process that legally occurs in every person – regardless of whether they have had surgery on the eye or not. Reading glasses are therefore to be expected from the age of 45.
During LASIK surgery, you are in constant contact with the surgeon and can always communicate. Even if you move during treatment, state-of-the-art eye tracking technology would interrupt the process and only start again when the exact position of the eye is secured.
