Protective masks minimize the risk Face mask of harmful pollutants entering the respiratory tract of the wearer, but they also offer protection against droplets with pathogens (bacteria and viruses). Protective masks are used in everyday working life in the construction, industry and pharmaceutical sectors against respiratory toxins and in nursing care in hospitals and retirement homes against the spread of diseases. The police, fire brigade and military also use respirators to protect against hazardous substances in the air. Since the outbreak of the corona pandemic and the mask requirement prescribed by the Federal Council, protective masks have become our daily companions in public transport, in shops, at train stations, airports and wherever many people are in a confined space. Buy protective masks now in our online shop and benefit from particularly low prices and fast shipping! How do protective masks work?

All masks follow the same operating principle. A filter fabric or fleece is placed close to the mouth and nose, which ensures that the breathing air must pass through the filter when inhaling and exhaling. This prevents aerosols mixed with bacteria or viruses from entering the environment and infecting other people when breathing, sneezing and talking. With FFP masks, the principle also works in the opposite direction and it can be prevented that respiratory toxins and pathogens are inhaled by the mask wearer. Almost all masks are attached to the back of the head with straps or to the ears with tabs and can be adjusted precisely to the face and bridge of the nose with a metal bracket. Many cloth masks, which are also called community masks, lack this metal bracket, which is why these protective masks close the facial area less well and have a worse protective effect. When buying a mask, pay attention to the CE marking (en 149) or the TÃœV seal of approval and thus ensure that the products are tested. The classic: the mouthguard

The mouthguard, often also called hygiene mask or medical face protection, is virtually the classic among the protective masks and shapes the image of people in public since the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus with its often blue, green or white exterior. The hygienic mouthguard is also a half mask, which tightly encloses the mouth and nose. It consists of a multi-layer fleece with a very tightly manufactured filter in the middle, which minimizes the leakage of pathogens. The outer layer of the fleece is moisture-repellent, while the inner layer is made of a particularly skin-friendly material. If you want to buy a mouthguard, you will quickly notice that the prices are very low. This may also be the main reason for the great popularity of this protective mask. Hygienic masks are available as Type II and Type IIR, whereby the latter can be purchased from a price of CHF 0.09 / piece. In addition to the low price, this mask convinces with a light weight and a very high wearing comfort.

Good to know: There are also different qualities in mouthguard products. We recommend type IIR hygiene masks, which offer a particularly high filter performance. FFP Masks – The respirator for maximum safety

While medical mouthguards primarily protect the wearer’s environment from infection, FFP (Filtering Face Piece) respirators are the only type of mask that also protects the wearer from infection. Why is the protection of FFP protective masks better? FFP2 and FFP3 protective masks are made of a high-quality filter material, which can filter a large part (up to 99%) of particles and aerosols from the air. In addition to this very good filter performance, FFP respirators enclose the mouth-nose area much more tightly than hygiene masks and can thus minimize the risk of viruses penetrating through the respiratory tract. Would you like to buy tested respirators? Choose between FFP masks without exhalation valve and protective masks with valve. Good to know: KN95 products comply with a Chinese standard and are roughly comparable to the European FFP2 class. However, the use of type KN95 is not recommended due to defects and is therefore not part of the schutzmasken-schweiz.ch range. Do you need more information about the items in our online shop? In contrast to the inexpensive mouth-nose protection (MNS) and the safe FFP protective mask, cotton fabric masks offer a significant advantage: They are the only masks that can be washed in the washing machine and used up to 30 times. Of course, this makes a lot of sense from an ecological point of view, but it also relaxes your wallet because you don’t have to buy a new protective mask all the time. Textile masks are available from a price of CHF 7.50 / piece and they are available in various trendy designs on the market, which has made them particularly popular with fashion-conscious people. If you order cloth masks from us, you benefit from a tested quality, which also meets the requirements of the Swiss Covid Taskforce.

Good to know: The use of a self-sewn fabric mask is not recommended by the FOPH, as the protective effect is not comparable to a respirator or hygiene masks. When buying, make sure that textile mask products always have the SQTS label. Disinfectants eliminate bacteria and viruses

Our disinfectants are practical for at home or on the go. The sprays, gels, pumps and wipes from our range eliminate pathogens and are quickly at hand when there is no time or opportunity for thorough hand washing. We only offer disinfectants that are dermatologically very well tolerated. Disinfected and well-groomed hands are no longer a contradiction on the go. Mouth-nose protection – correct application

Only respirators that are worn correctly protect people in the environment and the wearer himself from infection with the coronavirus. Here’s how hygiene masks are applied correctly:

Putting on the respirator

  • Wash your hands or disinfect them according to hygiene rules
  • Grasp the respirator on the elastic bands and place it in front of the mouth and nose
  • Attach the straps to the ears, people with small heads can cross the straps
  • Adjust the medical hygiene mask to the individual face shape with the help of the metal bracket
  • Check that no leaks can enter the environment through which particles
  • A respirator should be worn for a maximum of 2 hours, after which the filter no longer provides sufficient protection.
  • Removing the respirator

  • Again, the first thing to do is to disinfect or wash your hands.
  • Grasp respirators on the ear tabs and remove them from the face
  • Then place the hygiene mask in the nearest trash can
  • Good to know: No matter if you use a medical mask type IIR, a FFP2 or a FFP3 mask with valve, all these models are disposable masks that must be disposed of after use. The only exception is the Community Mask, which can be washed and used several times. It comes in great designs, is also popular with children and is particularly comfortable for the wearer to wear. However, the protective effect of community masks is controversial, because the filter performance of the substance is very different compared to type IIR, FFP2 or FFP3 products and sometimes so bad that air and particles can escape. Therefore, only wear tested textile masks that meet the requirements of the Swiss Covid Taskforce. Buy masks at Protective Masks Switzerland
